Teaching Physical Education in an elementary school can be a rather difficult task. Even when the subject of PE is brought up in a casual conversation the general response is something to the effect of â€Å"all you do is roll the balls out and watch the kids play.† If the teacher does not keep things interesting, class participation will fall by the wayside. There are many ways to combat this lack of understanding in PE. The teacher must always be able to relate classroom activities to the real world, higher order thinking must be involved and there must be an effective use of technology to keep students active. Effectively using technology in the classroom the teacher will be able to facilitate active learning by engaging students in PE†¦show more content†¦While keeping that in mind it is important to realize that if the right search is conducted there are many standards based activities that incorporate the use of technology in economics. For example, using heart rate monitors, pedometers and fitness software are all reliable activities that can help one in the classroom and are easily found as a result of productive and safe searches (http://www.freewebs.com/mscarmon/peresources1.htm) I believe that my school district (Bibb County Schools in Georgia) is doing a great job with regards to implementing sound technological plans in schools. The district is in accordance with state requirements and millions of dollars a year are set aside to improve facilities. In fact â€Å"ESPLOST† has just been passed by the voters in the county, which will maintain the sales tax at 7%. One percent of the increase will provide the schools within the county a projected 198.5 million dollars that will be delegated towards school improvement plans with regards to technology in schools. Unfortunately Bibb County is very segregated both racially and economically. The passing of ESPLOST is good because as of now most schools are left to raise funds on their own which often causes major disparity among rich and often times white schools and poor often times black areas. Majority of the money generated will go towards helping schools such as the one in which I teach.
